If you were a color, what would you be?

Posted on Mar 3rd, 2009 by Christina : Questioner Christina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 03, 2009:

If I was a color, I would be red. (This is not just because of my hair color...) Red is such a happy, confident color, and I strive to be both of those in everything I do from day to day.

What animals have made a difference in your life?

Yummies
I am a dog person.  Always have been...always will be.  I like to watch cats, but in my experience, they have mood swings...cuddly one second, and levitating the next.  But, my dogs love me no matter how cranky I am.  They truly personify unconditional love.  They are also sensory therapists...a little cuddling from them, and my problems diminish.

Where is your name from?

Posted on Mar 4th, 2009 by Christina : Questioner Christina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 04, 2009:

Before I was born...my mother was informed by her doctor that I was a boy. Armed with that tidbit of useful information, she and my father proceeded to name me "Jeremy Christopher."  Imagine their surprise when I turned out to be...me!  Daddy told the doctor I would be named Oma...Oma Darling.  (He's got a strange sense of humor sometimes...)  Happily, he didn't go through with it and named me "Christina", which is Latin for "follower of Christ" (which I wholeheartedly am) and "Louise", in memory of my maternal great-grandmother.  "Louise" means "watchful one," and I try to live up to it.  Thank goodness it doesn't mean "one who remembers"...I never can remember where I left my keys...or my glasses...

What did you, or do you, like most about school?

Posted on Mar 6th, 2009 by Christina : Questioner Christina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 06, 2009:

My first word, according to my much-enduring mother, was "why." I wasn't being a bad baby, she said...I honestly wanted to know why...for everything. (Sorry, Mom.) While this may have contributed to early maternal headaches, the question of why has continued to dominate me. I love school because in my studies, some of my questions are answered! I fell in love with geometry when I did my first proof.  The concepts were laid out in black and white...or in my case, graphite and yellow.  Algebra gave me a little more grief because there was an expectation on the part of my teacher that her student would be willing to just push the "I believe!" button...a button I tend to balk at pushing.  I love being a student...and will continue to be one for the rest of my life!

Write a thank you letter to something you take for granted.

Posted on Mar 9th, 2009 by Christina : Questioner Christina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 09, 2009:

Dear Nose,

I want to thank you for all that you do for me in this love/hate relationship we've got going here. On the up side, I love how you smell (and help me taste!) the baking chocolate chip cookies, the flowers, and the salt sea air.  And you've definately worked better since they fixed where my brother broke you...  But, we need to do something about your issues with pollen.  I apologize...I've tried to better my immune system so you aren't affected so badly, but it doesn't seem to be working.  I'll keep working on it so that our partnership can continue to flourish...and I promise to do better about putting sunblock on you so you don't get as burned this summer.

Love,
Christina

What is so terrible about fear?

Posted on Mar 10th, 2009 by Christina : Questioner Christina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 10, 2009:

Fear can be paralyzing and even debilitating...which makes it something to be feared inof itself.  It can keep one from making decisions, from standing up for one's belief, from loving another...and from riding roller coasters.  Allowing oneself to become driven by fear is to limit possible greatness in life.

What would you put in your own personal time capsule?

Posted on Mar 11th, 2009 by Christina : Questioner Christina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 11, 2009:

My personal time capsule would include the Navy ballcap I earned upon graduation from boot camp, a cassette tape recording of my first piano competition, a box of Band-Aids as a tribute to my disaster-prone nature, a screwdriver and multimeter for the techie side, and pictures of my family and me.

What if we can't save the world?

Posted on Mar 13th, 2009 by Christina : Questioner Christina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 13, 2009:

I've decided that it's too much pressure to try to save the whole world.  However, that being said, I've decided to do everything I can to save my own little corner.  I can continue to do the things within my own abilities and means to help those in my circle of influence.  I believe that an approach of this nature is not only more realistic (and less stressful!), but that if adopted by others, could start a chain reaction of "corner saving"...and enough corners saved could eventually add up to the world.  I call it the "one bite of the elephant at a time" approach...
